On Saturday September 19, 2015 many Coloradans went to witness the ultimate Rocky Mountain Showdown. This rivalry between CU and CSU has dated back since 1893 when they had their very first meeting. For the past few years CSU has been the winner of this ongoing and grueling battle between the rams and the buffaloes, but on Saturday the CU Buffs put an end to their winning streak and CSU bragging rights.

Some were ecstatic about this win, while others not so much. Personally not being a CU or CSU fan, I didn’t really care about the game or who won. However, I wasn’t expecting CU to win, especially since CSU has won the past two games against CU. Nonetheless, the overtime win they pulled off was quite impressive.

There’s no doubt about it that the CSU players and fans will come up with some excuses as to why they lost this vital game. Some might blame it on the three missed field goals, others on the interception that was returned for the touchdown, and even some on how the Rams repeatedly turned the ball over on downs once inside CU’s 25 yard line. Some of these excuses may be true, and some might not but what really matters at the end of the day is that CU won.

Now while I might not be a big fan of either university that doesn’t mean that they aren’t both great schools. They both are top colleges with an emphasis in law and science. However, after this weekend the school with the better football team goes to CU.
