In the recent months there has been an uproar from the students of Jefferson County, on the proposal from board member Julie Williams to in lack of a better term censor Advance Placement United States History(APUSH).

The students from various schools across Jeffco had then decided to start Walk-Outs.  Were the students would walk out of their classes and peaceful protest the issues that have happened.

Our school was one of the schools to participate in the event walking out from the early morning of September 23rd, with some kids standing out front until the very end of the day.

With so many schools participating in the event and even more students speaking at the board meet, on October 2, the community had assumed the board majority would see that what they were proposing wasn’t necessarily something that they should do right then and there.

Instead that night they had the vote and with a vote of 3-2 the board majority had won leaving lots of people in the county quite furious. The “compromise” was to allow 1 or 2 students and a few members of the community onto a board that would review the APUSH curriculum.

When this happened students from all across Jeffco and RV then decided that there needed to be a recall for this being passed.

Most of them saying that felt that it was unfair and that the board majority voting that night was against district policies.  The students then came together to have a rally to start the ball rolling to get the recall action started,  and to get the label of being pawns completely taken away.
