On to Arvada West
The RV Mustangs football team make it (2-0) on the road with 42-0 win over ThunderRidge
September 18, 2015
Mustang football remains undefeated after an unbelievable win against Thunderridge last Thursday night. RV walked out of Shea Stadium in Highlands Ranch with a 2-0 record after recording a 42-0 victory.
Following up a devastating end to the 2014 season, the boys are determined to get to week 14 this year.
“I just want to play the best I can this year, and I want the team to get as far as possible,” said junior Tyler Shannon, one of a number of workhorse running backs for head coach Matt Loyd.
Senior Dillon Baker mentioned a slight concern due to the game being on a Thursday night, forcing the team to settle for a shortened week to prepare.
“I always expect us to play well,” Baker said. “It doesn’t matter the day of the week.”
Baker hopes to make first-team All-Conference this season.
As the Mustangs maintain a strong start to the 2015 season, the senior class has some high expectations for the younger members of this team.
“They’re a hard-working group of guys; they’re confident, and I think they’re ready for it,” said senior running back Kyle Rush.
Senior linebacker Danny Luksa agreed.
“The only team that can truly beat us is ourselves,” Luksa added.
RV football fans everywhere are rooting for a similar outcome for Friday night’s game against the Arvada West Wildcats, and the boys are aiming to remain on top until they reach state.
