Performance/Performer of the Week: It doesn’t happen very often when student-athletes decide to double up their sports commitments during a single season, but that’s not the case for RV seniors Nick Nowlen and Kyle Sterns. Both Nowlen and Sterns play on the soccer team, but they also are members of the cross country team. “Sometimes, we don’t see them very much, but they show up for meets and they do really well for us,” said assistant coach Lara Vette. Led by Nowlen’s 13th-place finish, the boys team turned in a very respectable 7th-Place showing at the Centaurus Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 2. “Our boys should be very strong,” said assistant coach Lara Vette, noting that Sterns also performed very well. “We used to have kids who celebrated running under 20 minutes, and now we have kids working to go under 17 minutes. It’s a big step forward.”
