Coach Speak: The Mustangs started off the 2018 Swimming and Diving season at the Denver East Angel’s Inivte. Finishing fourth, several RV swimmers posted great results for the opening meet of the season. Quinnlen Sweetman (’18) finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a winning time of 1:09.90. Several RV relay teams produced points for the Mustangs as well, including the 200 freestyle relay team (3rd place), the 400 freestyle relay team (4th place), and the 200 medley team (6th place). The Mustangs followed up the Angel’s Invite by winning their first Jeffco League Tri-Meet in convincing fashion over Columbine and Wheat Ridge. Individual event winners included Sweetman (100 freestyle), Benjamin Sampson (’20) (100 backstroke), Paul Stone (’20) (100 breaststroke), Cody Turner (’19) (200 freestyle), and Nicholas Fox (’19) (500 freestyle). RV swept the relay events, winning the 200 freestyle relay, the 400 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay.
