Number PIcWalking into Ralston Valley, every student has a number. Four homecomings, two proms, 28 classes, a whole lot of football games, thousands of tests, memories with your friends, the occasional broken heart and too much to even write about.

It’s not visible, but it exists.

Many students don’t know the number, only the anxious few who have made themselves familiar with it.

The number? One thousand, four hundred, sixty.

So, what? What does the number mean? Well, here’s a clue:

This number shrinks annually. From 1,460 to 1,095 to 730, to 365 and, mercifully, to zero.

Figured it out yet?

Freshman walking through the front door of RV come face-to-face with a massive Mustang staring back at them, and they will see that same horse for the next 1,460 days, or until they put on an RV cap and gown and walk across the stage at the Coors Events Center.

Few students are cognitively aware of the significance of this number. In fact, only five RV students who were questioned were able to accurately determine the significance of 1,460.

“It’s the number of jelly beans I eat in one day,” said senior Tristan Riggs.

Good guess, but no. Not even close.

“It’s the number of celebrity crushes I have,” said sophomore Samantha McAndrew.

Again not all the way but then there was a bigger question, “What will you do with those days?”

“ I want to be in every pages of the year book because there is no yearbook in college.” Said sophomore Jakob Fanning

The truth is, high school goes by fast, and we as the student body shouldn’t waste any day. When the final bell rings the memories of these halls become memories. Fill in your number here and imagine what could happen in those days.
