On Monday, students, including Julianne Smith (19) were encouraged to pay $2 to wear a hat during the school day. The money collected began the giving for Porter, RVs 2018 Make-A-Wish kid.

Rollin’ in the Deep

RVs Make-A-Wish kid is Porter, a local two-year-old who is suffering from Leukemia. Porters wish is to have a Jungle Gym for his home, one that he and his brother can play on every day.

Make-A-Wish Week concludes with the Color Fusion Dance on Saturday, Feb. 3. Tickets can be purchased in the lobby for $10.

The Penny Stall has two purposes: First, and most importantly, the money will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Second, third-block teachers cant start class until all the donated money is counted.

Restaurants around the RV community will be hosting charity nights, including Panera, Abos, Buffalo Wild Wings, Firehouse Subs, and Chik-Fil-A.

One of the most anticipated events during Make-A-Wish Week is the Miracle Minute, where Student Government is hoping the RV community can donate at least $6,000 in only ONE minute.

To help raise a little more money along the way, students can pay $1 during lunch to play a song of their choice on a Jukebox in the cafeteria.

Wednesdays spirit day is Jungle Gym Day, and RV students are encouraged to dress either as they are headed to work out at the gym or as if they are going on a Jungle Safari.

Make-A-Wish Week has become a stable at RV, and this year is no different. The weeks events are highlighted on these posters hanging outside the art rooms.
